Patricia Payman wins the raffle at our February Meeting draw. Presenting the prize is Betsie du Plessis who brought back these lovely table mats and salad servers from South Africa on her recent visit home, specifically as a raffle prize.
Choosing new charities
The main news from the Charity desk this month is that we have reached that moment in our two year cycle when we have to think about choosing our next recipients to receive the funds we raise during the next two years.
Our Charities for the last two years, Stichting MS Research and Temple kids must have been delighted with the cheques we handed over during the January meeting, therefore a big Thank You to all you ladies who were so active organising many wonderful events which enabled us to raise such a large amount of money.
During the last few months, The Charity Committee has been quietly working away looking at possible recipients for the funds we raise during the next two years. We are considering selecting just one Charity this year in order that the IWC can really make a difference by donating a relatively substantial amount to allow the winner to put the money to greater use.
As in the past, we are looking to fund Women's and Children's Organisations and according to the IWC Bye-laws the Charity must be a Registered Charity with ANBI status or CBF Keurmerk. If you, the members would like to name a Charity to be considered, please email details to charity@iwcamsterdam.nl before 1st March 2012. Voting will take place at the April Monthly Meeting, therefore The Team will need a little time to verify the legitimacy of the Charity and also prepare information to be handed out with the voting papers.
Spring Gala Ball
It's that time of year again when we are looking forward to warmer weather and with Springtime just around the corner The Charity Committee are busy preparing our major fundraising event of the year, The Spring Gala Ball. For those of you who attended last year's fun filled evening, we hope you will join us again and if you missed this great event check out the photographs on the IWC website. The date is fixed for Saturday 12th May 2012 at the same venue St.Olafs Chapel at the NH Barbizon Palace Hotel. More details to follow in the next Newsletter, but in the meantime please keep the date free and start thinking about making up your table. Partners, friends and family will all be welcome, but remember numbers are limited so please book early so as not to be disappointed.
